Plant Information
|
A FFA member may show a plant in all of the horticulture and vegetable classes listed below. There is a $5 entry fee for each class. The top 1 in each division will sell in the auction and other projects can be sold in the tent sale.
There will be a meeting over horticulture projects this semester (TBA). Please attend for more information concernig plant projects.
Horticulture Division:
A - Hanging Basket - shown in a 10 inch green or white plastic basket (you can get one from Mrs. Brummond)
B - Terrarium - a covered or closed container for growing plants
C - 6 inch potted plant - shown in a 6 inch green plastic pot
D - 10 inch potted plant - shown in a 10 inch green plastic pot
E - Bonsai - any plant tha has been dwarfed by trimming
F - Dish Garden - a garden created in a dish type container obtained from Mrs. Brummond
G - Topiary - trimming plants into different shapes using wire and moss
H - Specimen - large foliage plant in a gallon pot or larger
Vegetable Division: (See below information attachment regarding how many and sizes)
A - Plate Division - anise, wax beans, green snap beans, chinese cabbage, green cabbage, red cabbage, savoy cabbage, cucumber, Eggplant, okra, peas, peppers, squash, tomatoes.
B - Bunch Division - beets, carrots, swiss chard, collards, dandelions, dill, kale, mustard greens, green onions, parsley, turnip greens, turnips.
C - Other Division - broccoli, cantaloupe, cauliflower, celery, sweet corn, endive, escarole, lettuce, onions, potatoes, spinach, watermelon.
